D3D graphics error

I've got the latest drivers for my 6670 video card, I'm running Windows 7 32-bit and I've tried the "work-around" I've read about where you apply -launch at the end of the D3 beta shortcut target thing, but I'm still getting the "Click to retry creating D3D device" error. After 3 times clicking "OK," it gives me a "retry" and a "cancel" option.

The "Retry" option simply gives me the error over and over again until I cancel. I've opened up Task Manager, only one copy of D3 Beta is running. My other games (Starcraft 2, for example) all work fine. I've uninstalled and re-installed the beta to no effect. I think, given the above, that this can be effectively labeled a bug.

Anybody else receiving this, especially with Windows 7? Is there a solution? Did patch 16 cause some issues for anybody?

Vorticity,

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

If you have any Win7 compatibility settings enabled for the game, could you remove them?

I'm not sure what you mean by Win7 compatibility settings. I've tried running the beta in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3 and received the same error messages, but I usually run it in the default settings, Win7 32-bit I presume.

That's what I meant. I don't want you to have any of the options set under the compatibility settings. Make sure the -launch is removed from the target line as well.Try using ATI's Catalyst 12.1 release drivers if you would please.

Vorticity,

Can you post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in your My Documents\Diablo III folder.

Vorticity,

Try deleting the D3Prefs.txt file so the game will use defaults the next time it starts and let's see what happens.
