this post mentions that the linear progression of normal, nightmare, hell, and inferno will be removed and replaced with the normal, expert master thing which is similar to the MP system.

I'm all for this and like it very much but how will this affect achievements?

More specifically, what happens to the old achievements like "kill Diablo in inferno difficulty" etc. As well as the achievements in hardcore mode, and party mode.

Will they be gone? Will we get a new set of achievements in expert, master, etc? Would those who have completed them be in the lead in terms of achievements?

I bring this up because i havent done the achievements for hardcore, party mode like killing Diablo in so-and-so difficulty yet so I would like to complete them before RoS comes out or will i not need do them if they be scrapped altogether >.>

I've answered this question before, but I think it's worth repeating so please forgive me if this is old news to you. Achievements that have a difficulty associated with them (Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno) will turn into Feats of Strength once the new difficulties are patched in. We'll put in new achievements as well, but the details regarding them are still being worked on.
